Three Post Double-Doubles Against Montevallo

AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA volleyball team dropped a hard-fought 3-2 match to Montevallo Saturday evening.

The Pacers are now 5-5 on the year.

Head coach Glenn Cox's team was led by Alli Bishop and Lexi Rogers as both recorded 14 kills. Rogers added 13 digs for a double-double. Anna Sommer notched 11 kills, 10 block assists and eight digs. Bailey Corrigan notched 10 kills and 12 digs while Chloe Duzenack added 10 kills. 

Sidney Hogan dished out 33 assists to go along with 14 digs while Madison Fox distributed 18 assists to go along with eight digs. 

At the service line, Kira Bostick and Ella Hukel had two aces apiece.

Defensively, Bostick totaled 13 digs. At the net, Bishop had seven block assists while Avery Pearson and Rogers had three apiece. Duzenack was in on two blocks while Corrigan was in on one.

Leading 12-10 in the first set, an attack error by the Falcons sparked a run for USCA. Sommer followed it up with a kill. Sommer and Rogers added points to make it 17-11. Holding a 22-19 edge, Duzenack slammed home a pass from Fox. A kill by Corrigan extended the margin to five, 24-19. Sommer ended the frame on the next play with a kill off a pass from Fox.

USCA trailed 18-15 in the second set before a miscue made it a two-point set. Down 19-16, Duzenack found the court for a point before Biship and Sommer combined for a block, forcing a time-out. Corrigan slammed home a pass from Hogan before Bishop and Sommer thwarted another shot, knotting the score. However, the visitors managed to snag the 25-23 win.

Montevallo took the third frame, but Cox's team battled back to snag the fourth stanza. Tied at 18-18, a bad set gave the Pacers the lead. Bishop found the court for a kill, making it a two-point contest. Leading 22-21, Rogers and Corrigan posted back-to-back kills. Moments later, a service error secured the set for USCA, forcing the fifth frame.   

USCA made it 2-0 after a kill from Bishop and an ace from Hogan. Down 3-2, Sommer and Rogers had kills before the dyad combined for a block, giving the team a 5-3 edge.

Trailing 10-7, Duzenack found the court before Corrigan and Pearson combined for a block. Duzenack's kill knotted the score, forcing a time-out. The Falcons held a 13-11 lead before Sommer made it a one-point contest. However, the visitors secured the next two points. 

For the match, USCA hit .244 with 65 kills and added 76 digs. The team registered 13 total blocks.
