AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA women's soccer team played Coker to a scoreless draw Wednesday evening.
The Pacers are now 3-1-1 on the season.
Head coach
Adam Kleman's team was led by
Greta Ohlwein's four shots, including two on goal.
Shy Iles and
Ashtyn Ivey had two shots apiece.
Ashtyn Ivey's shot just 35 ticks into the match was stopped by the keeper.
Savannah Yerger turned away the Cobra's first shot at the 7:12 mark. Less than a minute later,
Isabella Recalde blasted an attempt that was saved.
In a seven-second span, Iles had a pair of shots, including one on goal, that were brilliant. However, neither found the back of the net. Kleman's team continued to push forward, but Ohlwein's attempt was blocked in the 10
th minute.
Yerger stopped two more shots in the first half while Ohlwein's shot on goal was thwarted prior to halftime, keeping the contest scoreless at the break.
USCA had a magnificent opportunity to take the lead at the 62:17 mark. Ivey's header to the far side of the post was saved by Coker's keeper as the contest remained at 0-0.
After another save by Yerger, Ohlwein blasted a shot on target in the 81
st minute.
Each team frantically searched for a goal in the waning moments, but neither squad was successful.
Yerger stopped four shots in the shutout.
For the match, USCA held a 9-8 edge in shots, including a 6-4 advantage in shots on frame. The home team tallied five corner kicks in the match.
