AIKEN, S.C. –
Rafael Reno scored the go-ahead goal for the USCA men's soccer team with under 14 minutes to play, helping the home squad knock off Clayton State 2-1 Wednesday afternoon in the PBC opener.
The Pacers are now 2-1-1 on the season, including a 1-0 ledger in league play.

Nick Sakiewicz's team was led by Reno's goal and assist.
In the 15
th minute of action,
Rafael Kawata rocketed a shot toward the frame, but it was stopped by the Lakers' keeper. At the 25:57 mark,
Samuel Mitchell's attempt was wide of the goal.
After a scramble in the box, Clayton State managed to find the back of the net in the 31
st minute of play.
Down 1-0, Kawata had a pair of attempts within a four-minute span. However, one missed high while the other was thwarted, keeping the score at 1-0.
USCA continued pushing forward and it paid off in the 66
th minute of action. Reno found
Frankie Martinez, who promptly rocketed a shot past the keeper, knotting the score at 1-1.
The Pacers took the lead at the 76:21 mark off the goal from Reno and continued to play in the opposing third of the pitch for much of the remainder of the match.
USCA's defense blocked a pair of shots by the Lakers and a last-second attempt sailed high, securing the victory for Sakiewicz's squad.
For the match, USCA held a 13-9 edge in shots, including an 8-1 advantage in shots on goal.
Kawata totaled five shots, including four on goal. Mitchell tallied two shots while
Damian Rogers had one.
Martinez accounted for three shots on goal while Dyer had a shot.
Felipe Mattos played all 90 minutes between the pipes to secure the victory.
The victory marked the program's 10
th in the all-time series against the Lakers while snapping a five-match losing streak in the series.
