AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA baseball team lost an 11-1 decision to No. 18 Francis Marion Tuesday evening in a non-conference contest.
The Pacers are now 16-23 on the season while the Patriots improve to 31-9.
Head coach
Michael Holder's team trailed 6-0 in the bottom of the fourth.
Jack Hobson doubled down the right field line to lead off the stanza.
Hunter Thompson's groundout pushed Hobson to third.
Donovan Glisson took an 0-1 pitch and promptly ripped the offering to right field, driving in Hobson.
USCA recorded a hit in the fifth and two in the sixth, but the squad was unable to push across a run in either instance.
The game was called after the seventh due to the run-rule.
For the game,
Tyler Casciato, Glisson, Hobson,
Griffin Rowe and
Kaden Usry posted base hits. Hobson notched the team's extra-base hit, a double, while Glisson drove in a run and Hobson crossed home. Thompson registered a walk in the contest.
On the mound,
Blayne Newman had the start and posted five strikeouts in 2.1 innings.
Jared Huse struck out a batter in two-thirds of an inning.
Damien Ashley worked an inning with a strikeout while
Cole Evilsizor also had a strikeout.
Charles Herring, Jr., struck out four in 1.2 innings while
Luke Norman tossed the seventh and had a strikeout.
