AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA baseball team cruised to a 7-2 victory behind a stellar pitching performance from
Blayne Newman Friday evening against Augusta.
The Pacers are now 17-23 on the season, including 7-12 in PBC play.
Newman tossed seven strong frames and gave up just one run on two hits while striking out eight to get the win.

Michael Holder's team broke the scoreless contest in the fourth inning.
Capers Molinaroli drew a lead-off walk and scored on the triple by
Donovan Glisson for a 1-0 advantage. After a walk to
Brody Yeomans,
Griffin Rowe laced a line drive into right field that allowed Glisson to score. Moments later,
Jack Hobson doubled in Yeomans for a 3-0 margin.
The Jaguars managed to get on the scoreboard in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly.
However, USCA got the run back quickly as
Jack Hobson unleashed a solo home run over the right field wall in the bottom of the stanza.
Tyler Casciato walked and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by
JB Bell.
Josh Sharp's bounding ball to first base allowed Casciato to hustle to third base. Molinaroli singled in Casciato for a 5-1 lead. Two batters later, Glisson bounced on a pitch and pushed it up the middle for a single while Sharp raced home for a five-run cushion.
In the eighth, Rowe was hit by a pitch and stole second. Casciato placed a pitch into right field for a double, driving in Rowe for a 7-1 advantage.
For the game, Glisson had three hits, including a home run, and drove in two. Hobson had two hits – a home run and a double, and had two RBI, while Sharp had a pair of hits in the win. Casciato had a double while Bell and Molinaroli posted base hits.
On the mound, Newman picked up the victory with his outstanding effort.
Cole Evilsizor worked the final two frames and had four strikeouts.
