MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The USCA baseball team lost a 14-3 contest at Georgia College on Saturday.
The Pacers are now 16-21 on the season, including a 6-11 ledger in PBC play.
Head coach
Michael Holder's team had a base runner on in the first thanks to a walk to
Brody Yeomans, but he was left stranded.
Donovan Glisson roped a double to left center field in the second, but two straight outs ended the stanza.
Down 1-0 in the third,
Josh Sharp beat out a hit to second base but he was unable to cross home.
Trailing 4-0,
Jack Hobson led off the fourth but a double play erased him.
With the score at 12-0, Hobson doubled down the right field line in the sixth and made it to third when
Griffin Rowe reached on an error, but a fly ball ended the threat.
In the seventh,
Gage Kirkland drew a one-out walk.
Tyler Casciato was hit by a pitch before Sharp and Yeomans each drew a base on balls. The walk to Yeomans allowed Kirkland to trot home. After a pitching change,
Hunter Thompson poked an offering into left field, driving in two.
Down 12-3 in the eighth, Rowe was hit by a pitch.
Eliud Poventud's base hit put Rowe in scoring position, but back-to-back strikeouts ended the inning.
For the game, Hobson had two hits, including a double. Thompson drove in two.
On the mound,
Logan Wise had four strikeouts.
Luke Norman,
Nick Taddei and
Jacob Butler also saw time on the bump.
