Thompson Crushes Two Home Runs At Georgia College

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The USCA baseball team lost a 10-6 decision at Georgia College Friday evening in the first game of the PBC series.

The Pacers are now 16-20 on the season, including 6-10 in PBC play.

Head coach Michael Holder's team jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Josh Sharp opened the game with a base knock to right field. After getting on base, he swiftly swiped second. After moving to third on a groundout, Hunter Thompson lifted a fly ball to center field which was deep enough to push Sharp home.

The Bobcats plated four runs in the first and six in the second for a nine-run margin, but USCA sliced into the deficit in the third. Tyler Casciato led off the inning with an infield hit and trotted to second when Sharp drew a walk. Two batters later, Thompson crushed a three-run home run to right center field to make it 10-4.

Holder's group trimmed the margin to four with a two-run fifth. With two away, Brody Yeomans singled up the middle. Once again, Thompson belted a home run over the right center field fence.

For the game, Thompson led the way with a pair of home runs and six RBI. Sharp and Thompson each crossed home plate twice in the contest. Casciato and Yeomans both scored.

On the mound, Blayne Newman got the start and worked a frame. Damien Ashley tossed one inning of work. Connor Sampers entered and threw 3.1 scoreless frames. Jacob Bodkin and Jacob Butler each worked 1.1 innings without allowing a run. Butler recorded a strikeout.

The Pacers return to action tomorrow for game two of the series starting at 2 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at PacerSports.com.
