USCA Posts 12-3 Win At USCB

BEAUFORT, S.C. – The USCA baseball team posted a 12-3 victory at USC Beaufort Saturday in the second game of the series.

The Pacers are now 21-27 on the season, including 10-16 in PBC play.

Head coach Michael Holder's team jumped on the board in the top of the first inning. Josh Sharp led off the game with a single and swiftly stole second base. After taking third on a fly ball, he trotted home when Hunter Thompson doubled to left field for a 1-0 advantage.

The Sand Sharks battled back and plated two runs in the first as well as one in the second for a 3-1 margin.

USCA responded in the fourth stanza. JB Bell took first after a wild pitch on strike three. He moved to second on Sharp's base knock to right field. They each swiped a base before Bell scored on a wild pitch. Capers Molinaroli drew a walk as did Thompson to load the bags. With one down, Brody Yeomans singled in Sharp to knot the game at 3-3.

With the bases loaded, Kaden Usry ripped a double down the left field line, clearing the bags for a 6-3 advantage. After Jack Hobson singled to put runners on the corners, Tyler Casciato singled home Usry for a 7-3 score.

With the score still at 7-3 in the sixth, Usry doubled to left field and scored when Hobson blasted a two-run shot over the left center field wall for a six-run margin.

After a lengthy weather delay, the Pacers went back to work and added to the advantage in the ninth. With one away, Donovan Glisson was hit by a pitch and took second on a walk to Usry. Hobson quickly bashed a three-run shot over the center field wall for a 12-3 lead.

For the game, Sharp had three hits, stole three bases and scored twice. Usry recorded three hits, including two doubles, and scored three times. Hobson tallied three hits, including two home runs, drove in five and scored twice. Casciato notched two hits and drove in a run.

On the mound, Logan Wise had five strikeouts in six innings of work. Nick Taddei worked a frame while Jacob Butler tossed two strikeouts in the final two stanzas.

The Pacers return to action tomorrow for the final game of the three-game series starting at 1 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at PacerSports.com.
