DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The USCA baseball team lost a 5-2 decision at No. 14 North Georgia Thursday evening in the first game of the three-game series.
The Pacers are now 18-25 on the season, including 8-14 in PBC play.
Head coach
Michael Holder's team jumped on top in the third inning. With one away,
Tyler Casciato drew a walk. Two batters later,
Josh Sharp blasted a two-run home run over the right field wall for the two-run cushion.
The Nighthawks managed to plate four runs in the fifth and one in the sixth for a 5-2 lead.
In the seventh, Sharp was hit by a pitch. However, he was left stranded. USCA got a base runner on in the ninth when
Brody Yeomans drew a walk, but an out ended the contest.
For the game,
Donovan Glisson,
Dalton Graves and Sharp had hits. Sharp drove in two with his home run. Casciato also crossed home for Holder's team.
On the mound,
Blayne Newman got the start and tossed 4.2 innings. He struck out six.
Jared Huse worked the next 11. Frames before
Damien Ashley tossed two innings of relief. Ashley had a strikeout.
USCA tallied two runs on three hits with three errors while the Nighthawks accounted for five runs on 10 hits with two errors.
