Usry Drives In Five At No. 14 North Georgia

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The USCA baseball team lost a 13-8 contest at No. 14 North Georgia Friday afternoon.

The Pacers are now 18-26 overall, including 8-15 in PBC play.

Head coach Michael Holder's team got on the board in the fourth frame. Trailing 5-0, Hunter Thompson was hit by a pitch with two outs. Jack Hobson singled to left field to put two runners on. Kaden Usry smacked a double to the gap in right center field, which drove in Thompson and Hobson to pull within three at 5-2.

The Nighthawks pushed across a run in the fifth, four in the sixth and one in the seventh for an 11-2 advantage.

Eliud Poventud doubled down the left field line to open the eighth. Two batters later, Cannon Frost singled him home to make it 11-3. Capers Molinaroli ripped a single through the right side. Donovan Glisson singled and Frost scored on an error. Thompson doubled home Molinaroli to make it 11-5. Two batters later, Usry crushed a three-run shot over the left field wall to bring the visitors within three, 11-8.  

For the game, Glisson, Thompson and Usry had two hits apiece. Usry posted a home run and a double while driving in five.

On the mound, Logan Wise got the start and had a pair of strikeouts. Luke Norman had a strikeout. Jacob Bodkin and Jared Huse recorded two strikeouts apiece while Nick Taddei and Lucas Highberger each had one.
