Hobson Launches Two Home Runs

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The USCA baseball team lost a 4-3 contest at Columbus State Saturday afternoon.

The Pacers are now 13-16 on the season, including 5-6 in PBC play.

Head coach Michael Holder's team trailed 3-0 heading into the fourth inning. The Pacers pushed across a run in the stanza. Josh Sharp led off the inning with a double and stole third with one away. He trotted home on a sacrifice fly by Hunter Thompson, slicing the deficit to two, 3-1.

With two outs in the fourth, Jack Hobson crushed a pitch over the wall in left center field, pulling the visitors within one at 3-2.

Trailing 4-2 in the seventh, Hobson launched a solo round-tripper over the left field fence. However, USCA was unable to knot the score.

For the game, Hobson had two hits, both of which were home runs. Sharp notched a pair of base hits, including a double. Hobson drove in two, scored twice and Sharp crossed home once in the contest.

On the mound, Logan Wise got the start and worked four innings with a strikeout. Luke Norman had a strikeout in a frame. Jared Huse and Jacob Bodkin worked a frame apiece and both had a strikeout. Charles Herring, Jr., worked the eighth and had two strikeouts.

USCA posted three runs on eight hits while the Cougars tallied four runs on five hits. Neither team committed an error.
