AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA softball team lost a 10-4 contest to No. 11 North Georgia Sunday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 11-12 on the season, including 0-3 in PBC play.
Down 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning,
Cameron Greene drew a two-out walk.
Anna Turner doubled down the left field line, putting runners on second and third.
Madison Rogers promptly ripped the first pitch she saw to deep center field, knocking in Greene and Turner.
The Nighthawks responded with six runs for an 8-2 edge. In the bottom of the third,
Mallory Shaver rocketed a pitch over the left center field fence for a solo home run.
Down 10-3, Shaver belted a single to right field with two away.
Autumn Fisher hit a deep fly ball nearly against the fence in right field, resulting in a triple while Shaver crossed home plate. USCA was unable to get any closer the rest of the way.
For the game, Fisher and Shaver led the way with two hits apiece. Each had one RBI while Shaver scored twice.
Peri Rouillard, Rogers and Turner all had hits. Rogers and Turner posted doubles and Rogers drove in a team-best two RBI.
Mollie Rollings and Greene each drew a base on balls.
In the circle,
Lakyn Phillips went the distance and had three strikeouts in the loss.
The Pacers return to action Wednesday when they play a doubleheader at Claflin starting at 1 p.m.
