AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA baseball team lost a 6-2 decision to Emmanuel Sunday afternoon in the final game of the three-game series.
The Pacers are now 2-4 on the season.
Trailing 1-0 in the fourth inning,
Tyler Casciato led off the frame with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Doom Dennis. Two batters later,
Eliud Poventud ripped a triple to right center field, tying the game at 1-1.
The Lions broke through with three runs in the sixth and two more in the eighth for a 6-2 advantage.
In the ninth,
Hunter Thompson uncorked a solo blast to left center field, making it a four-run game.
USCA tried to slice into the deficit. With one down,
Donovan Glisson roped a single up the middle on a full count. Two batters later,
Brody Yeomans recorded a base knock to right field, pushing Glisson to second. However, a groundout ended the game.
Head coach
Michael Holder's team was led by Thompson's three-hit performance. He accounted for one RBI and a run. Poventud tripled in a run while Casciato crossed home.
Capers Molinaroli also registered a hit for the home squad.
For the game,
Cade Bouknight tossed five innings and had eight strikeouts.
Cole Evilsizor worked two frames while
Jacob Bodkin entered for the final two innings. He had three strikeouts in the contest.
