MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The USCA volleyball team lost a 3-2 decision at Georgia College & State University Saturday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 14-13 on the season, including 6-7 in PBC play.
Head coach
Glenn Cox's team was led by
Chloe Duzenack and
Anna Sommer. Each posted 13 kills. Duzenack added 11 digs for a double-double.
Alli Bishop notched 11 kills while
Bailey Corrigan had six.
Hayley Laskowski and
Tucker Patterson posted five kills each.
Sidney Hogan had a double-double with 28 assists and 16 digs while
Madison Fox dished out 24 assists. At the service line,
Lexi Rogers accounted for four aces.
Defensively, Sommer had five blocks while Duzenack added a pair of solo blocks.
Kira Bostick recorded a career-high 30 digs. Rogers chipped in 14 digs.
USCA jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the opening set behind two kills from Bishop and one from Sommer. Down 16-8, Rogers hammered home a kill and split the defense with an ace. With the score at 17-10, Duzenack posted a kill.
Tucker Patterson and Sommer notched points, making it 18-14. Down 23-18, Duzenack launched a kill. Rogers tallied another ace before Patterson found the court. However, the Bobcats managed to secure the 25-22 win.
Trailing 8-4, Duzenack and Patterson recorded back-to-back kills. With the score 18-16 in favor of GCSU, Patterson slammed home a kill. An error by the home team and an ace by Rogers made it 19-18. Tied at 19-19, Duzenack recorded a kill. Sommer added two points via kills and one by a block for a 23-19 edge. Sommer ended the set with a kill for the two-point win.
After dropping the third set 25-20, Cox's team started strong in the fourth frame. Duzenack had two aces and four miscues by the Bobcats made it 6-0.
Bailey Corrigan's point forced a time-out at 7-0. Leading 13-9, Duzenack added a kill. Up 15-12, two errors by GCSU and a kill from Bishop extended the margin to six, 18-12. Holding a 21-19 lead,
Hayley Laskowski found the court for a point. Duzenack's block sealed the 25-19 win, forcing the fifth set.
Down 5-3 in the fifth set, Laskowski answered the bell with back-to-back points. Down 8-7, Duzenack and Bishop found the court for kills. GCSU netted the next four points before Duzenack added another point. However, the Bobcats secured the 15-12 win.
For the match, USCA posted 58 kills and hit .103. The squad dished out 55 assists and notched seven aces. Cox's team recorded 10 solo blocks and contributed 94 digs.
