MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The USCA volleyball team picked up a 3-0 victory at Georgia College & State University Friday evening.
The Pacers are now 14-12 on the season, including 6-6 in PBC play.
Head coach
Glenn Cox's team was led by
Alli Bishop's 13-kill effort while hitting .526.
Chloe Duzenack and
Lexi Rogers added 10 kills apiece. Duzenack hit .500 and did not commit an error.
Anna Sommer chipped in five kills while
Bailey Corrigan,
Hayley Laskowski and
Tucker Patterson had two kills apiece.
Sidney Hogan dished out 21 assists and added eight digs while
Madison Fox had 10 assists and six digs.
Kira Bostick contributed eight assists to go along with a team-high 11 digs.
Duzenack posted eight digs and Rogers had five. At the net, Laskowski was in on three blocks and Duzenack had two block assists.
Leading 10-9 in the opening frame, Duzenack posted back-to-back kills. Bishop and Rogers tallied points, pushing the margin to 15-10. After GCSU tied the contest at 19-19, Sommer found the court for a point. The teams traded points and with the score at 22-22, Bishop started a 3-0 spurt, securing the win. Rogers garnered a kill before an attack error gave the Pacers a 25-22 win.
Up 13-11 in the second stanza, back-to-back errors by the Bobcats forced a break in action. Laskowski and Fox posted points for a six-point margin. Holding a 20-17 lead, Sommer recorded a kill. With the score at 22-19, Bishop found the court. After an error by GCSU, Bishop ended the set with a kill off a pass from Hogan.
Trailing 16-13 in the third set, Duzenack and Corrigan registered kills, bringing the visitors within one. However, GCSU answered with four straight points to make it 20-15. Down 22-17, Cox called a time-out. After the break, Bishop answered the call with a kill. After a miscue by the Bobcats, Rogers hammered home a point. Bishop's kill made it 22-21 and forced the home team to call a time-out. With the score at 23-21, Bishop netted the next three points for a one-point edge before Laskowski and Rogers combined for a block, securing the win.
For the match, USCA had 46 kills and hit .327. The team dished out 43 assists and recorded 45 digs.
