AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA men's soccer team lost a 4-1 decision to Flagler Wednesday afternoon in a PBC contest.
The Pacers are now 5-6-4 on the season, including 3-5-3 in league play.
Head coach
Nick Sakiewicz's team fell behind 1-0 at the 29:53 mark. However, USCA knotted it at 1-1 prior to the break.
After earning a corner kick in the 42
nd minute,
Rafael Kawata took a corner kick. He played it near the top of the box to
Riad Zitouni, who quickly passed it to
Rafael Reno. Reno blasted a shot past the keeper after two beautiful passes, knotting the score at 1-1.
Ziotuni's shot in the 48
th minute was turned away. Reno tried to give USCA a one-goal margin at the 52:01 mark, but the keeper was up for the challenge.
Juan Felipe Ruiz's shot on goal was saved in the 66
th minute.
Flagler posted a pair of goals in a 31-second span for a 3-1 edge in the 70
th minute. The Saints tacked on another goal for the final tally.
For the match, USCA tallied 15 shots, nine of which were on goal. Sakiewicz's program earned four corner kicks.
Felipe Mattos played all 90 minutes between the pipes and had nine saves.
Reno had four shots on goal and scored a goal. Kawata tallied three shots, including one on frame. Zitouni and Felipe had two shots apiece. Zitouni accounted for two shots on frame.
