AUGUSTA, Ga. – The USCA volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday, falling 3-0 at Augusta before knocking off Shaw 3-0.
The Pacers are now 9-8 on the season, including 3-2 in PBC play.
Against Augusta, head coach
Glenn Cox's team was led by
Bailey Corrigan and
Anna Sommer as each contributed five kills.
Alli Bishop,
Chloe Duzenack and
Ana Cate Loftus had three kills apiece while
Kira Bostick and
Avery Pearson chipped in two kills apiece.
Sidney Hogan dished out six assists while
Madison Fox contributed five. Hogan served up a pair of aces.
Defensively, Bostick had 10 digs while Corrigan contributed six. Pearson had two solo blocks. Bishop and Sommer had two combined blocks each while Corrigan and Duzenack each had a block assist.
Against Shaw, Corrigan led the way with nine kills while hitting .692. Sommer and Patterson each added six kills while Bishop totaled five.
Hogan distributed 18 assists while
Camie Mitrovich dished out nine.
Ana Cate Loftus led the defense with nine digs while Corrigan and Bostick had eight digs apiece.
USCA held an 11-7 lead before a kill from Sommer and an ace from Hogan. Up 15-12, Corrigan had back-to-back kills before Corrigan and Pearson combined for a block. An attack error pushed the advantage to seven, 19-12. Moments later, Sommer took a pass from Hogan and finished off the set, 25-19.
With the score at 13-6 in the second frame, Fox started a run with a kill. A miscue by the Bears and a kill from Sommer extended the margin to 10, 16-6. With a 21-11 edge,
Hayley Laskowski and
Tucker Patterson combined for a block. Patterson added a kill before a miscue by Shaw and an ace from Corrigan completed the run and gave the set to USCA, 25-11.
Maintaining an 11-6 lead in the third stanza, Patterson and
Ana Cate Loftus posted kills before
Ella Hukel notched an ace. A point from
Leilani Brown and an error by the Bears made it 18-9. Brown registered back-to-back aces for a 22-10 advantage. Patterson finished off the match with a thunderous kill off a pass from Mitrovich.
For the match, USCA slammed home 44 kills and hit .340. The squad served up nine aces and totaled 46 digs.
