COCHRAN, Ga. – The USCA men's soccer team scored three goals in the waning moments to break open the match on the way to a 4-0 victory at Middle Georgia State University on Saturday.
The Pacers are now 5-3-3 on the season, including 3-2-2 in PBC play.
Head coach
Nick Sakiewicz's team was led by
Rafael Kawata's goal and assist.
Late in the first half,
Melvin Maboungou broke the scoreless competition with a goal off a pass from Kawata.
The match was still at 1-0 until the final 15 minutes of action. At the 78:40 mark,
Samuel Mitchell found Kawata for a 2-0 lead.
In the 84
th minute,
Rafael Reno blasted a shot past the keeper for a 3-0 advantage. At the 85:04 mark,
Juan Felipe Ruiz connected with a score, extended the margin to 4-0.
For the match, Kawata scored a goal and had an assist. Maboungou, Reno and Ruiz all found the back of the net. Mitchell had an assist in the win.
Felipe Mattos played all 90 minutes between the pipes to record the clean sheet.
Sakiewicz's team held a 13-7 edge in shots, including a 7-0 margin in shots on goal. USCA earned three corner kicks in the shutout.
