Pacers And Patriots Play To 1-1 Draw

FLORENCE, S.C. – The USCA women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw at Francis Marion Sunday afternoon.

The Pacers are now 0-1-1 on the season.

Head coach Adam Kleman's team got on the board in the 23rd minute. After the ball was played into the box off a free kick, Samantha Koneval blasted a shot from point-blank range into the back of the net for the 1-0 advantage.

With the score still at 1-0 in the second period, Kaydence Moore quickly turned away an attempt to her right just three minutes in. In the 58th minute of play, Moore picked up another save. She thwarted the Patriots' attack at the 67:31 mark with another stop.

In the 76th minute of action, Lexi Blasberg launched an attempt, but the keeper managed to snag it. Just over a minute later, Mackenzie Cochrane missed just to the right of the goal.

After another strong save by Moore at the 77:07 mark, the home squad earned a corner kick at the 80:58 mark. Francis Marion was able to convert the corner kick into the box and it was played to the upper right of the goal, knotting the score at 1-1.

The Patriots tallied the last three shots of the match, including one on goal, but Moore stopped the attempt, preserving the draw.

For the match, USCA tallied four shots, including two on goal. Koneval and Blasberg totaled shots on goal. Cochrane and Ellie Thompson were each credited with shots.  

Moore played all 90 minutes between the pipes and had seven saves.
