SALISUBRY, N.C. – The USCA men's soccer team used a stellar defensive performance to earn a 0-0 draw at Catawba.
The Pacers are now 0-0-2 on the season as are the Catawba Indians.
Catawba registered a couple of early shots in the match, but neither were on goal. In the 14
th minute,
Jose Rabadan unleashed a shot, but it sailed to the right of the frame.
Two more attempts by the Catawba Indians were not close, but
Felipe Mattos registered the first save of the evening at the 29:03 mark. Neither team could get much going the rest of the period, sending the contest into halftime scoreless.
Six minutes into the second half, Mattos was up for the challenge, turning away an attempt. The home team earned a corner kick and placed two more shots only a few seconds later, but neither were on goal.
The USCA defense continued to keep the Catawba Indians at bay. Although Catawba had chances, the Pacers limited the quality of the attempts. Mattos registered another save at the 61:48 mark.
The home squad recorded six more shots over the final 12 minutes of action, but none were on frame.

Nick Sakiewicz's team was led by Mattos' five saves in the shutout.
