Morrison Sends Pacers To Road Win

ALBANY, Ga.Brooke Morrison broke the tie with a second-half goal, sending the USCA women's soccer team to a 2-1 win at Albany State Saturday.

The Pacers are now 1-5-2 overall, including a 1-1 ledger in PBC play.

Head coach Adam Kleman's team jumped on the board at the 12:01 mark. After a corner kick, Haley Howell gathered the ball and ripped a shot to the lower left corner of the goal for the 1-0 advantage.

USCA continued putting pressure on Albany State as Mackenzie Cochrane's shot in the 16th minute missed to the right of the frame. Ellie Thompson's attempt at the 20:26 mark missed high. Less than a minute later, Kaydence Moore turned away the home squad, keeping the contest at 1-0.

Lexi Blasberg rocketed a shot to the upper left of the goal, but the keeper managed to turn it away in the 24th minute of action. Olivia Pall's attempt was thwarted in the 30th minute.

At the 29:57 mark, the Pacers were whistled for a foul in the box and the home team knotted the match at 1-1 on the ensuing penalty kick.

In the second half, Cochrane's shot on goal was saved in the 51st minute. Brooke Salerno and Cochrane each missed attempts before Shy Iles put a shot on goal in the 62nd minute of action.

After pushing forward, USCA earned a corner kick at the 71:20 mark. Payton Bates connected with Morrison for the score, making it 2-1. Bates was credited with an assist on the play.

Kleman's squad tried to increase the advantage, but Salerno's shot in the 75th minute was stopped. Avery List's attempt four minutes later was thwarted by the keeper. At the 79:15 mark, List missed high of the target.

Salerno registered a shot on goal at the 80:05 mark, but the attempt was saved. Blasberg tallied another shot late, but it was high of the frame.

For the match, Howell and Morrison recorded goals while Bates picked up an assist. Blasberg and Salerno had four shots apiece. Cochrane and Gillian Young tallied three shots each.

In goal, Kaydence Moore stopped seven shots while playing all 90 minutes.
