HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The USCA women's soccer team lost a 3-1 contest at Coker Wednesday evening.
The Pacers are now 0-5-2 on the season while the Cobras improve to 4-1-1.
Head coach
Adam Kleman's team earned a pair of corner kicks in the first four minutes of action, but neither resulted in a shot.
Payton Bates' attempt in the 14th minute of play marked the first shot for either squad, but it sailed high. After a corner kick from
Gillian Young at the 20:48 mark,
Mackenzie Cochrane's shot was saved by the keeper.
Kaydence Moore came up big late in the half, stopping a pair of shots on goal by the Cobras, sending the contest into intermission scoreless.
The Cobras got on the board with a penalty kick at the 57:19 mark. Coker added its second score in the 63rd minute of play.
Young took a corner kick in the 74th minute, but the Pacers were unable to connect on the set piece.
Lexi Blasberg's shot in the 81st minute was saved, keeping it at 2-0. Kleman's team continued playing in the offensive third of the pitch as
Shy Iles tallied a shot, but it missed to the left of the frame at the 81:15 mark.
The offensive pressure paid off as
Olivia Pall connected with
Brooke Morrison with 4:33 to play, slicing the deficit to 2-1.
Avery List nearly tied the contest a minute later, but her attempt missed just left of the post.
Coker scored the final goal of the match with 36 seconds to play.
For the match, USCA earned eight shots, including three on goal. Morrison, Cochrane and Blasberg garnered the shots on frame.
Between the pipes, Moore played all 90 minutes and had four saves.
