MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The USCA volleyball team registered a 3-1 victory over
Montevallo Saturday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 7-2 on the season.
Head coach
Glenn Cox's team lost the first set 25-20 but bounced back with authority in the second frame. Tied at 9-9,
Tucker Patterson slammed home a kill. An error by the Falcons and an ace from
Tabor Scanlon made it 12-9.
Emily Lammers had a kill before another ace from Scanlon pushed the margin to five, 14-9. Leading 20-19, Patterson got things going with another kill.
Sadie McKay registered a point as did
Gyongyver Araczki. Back-to-back aces from Scanlon gave the Pacers a 25-19 victory.
Down 12-11 in the third frame, Lammers knotted the score with a kill. Araczki garnered a point before teaming with Patterson for a block. Araczki and Patterson had kills en route to an 18-12 advantage. The Falcons pulled within three at 22-19, but Sommer quelled the run with a kill. The teams traded the next four points – and Cox's team took the victory when Hogan found Lammers for the kill.
Tied at 12-12 in the fourth stanza, a 6-0 run by the Pacers essentially put the contest away. During the spurt,
Alli Bishop had a pair of kills. Araczki posted two aces and
Ana Cate Loftus found the court for a point. Up 21-15, Patters recorded a kill. With the score at 23-17, an error by
Montevallo and a kill from
Loftus finished off the win at 25-17.
For the match,
Araczki posted 14 kills while hitting .632 to go along with two aces. Lammers tallied 13 kills and 10 digs for a double-double.
Loftus had eight kills while Patters chipped in seven. Bishop and Sommer contributed five and four, respectively.
Scanlon dished out 24 assists and had five aces to go along with six digs. Hogan distributed 19 assists and had an ace.
Kaitlyn Rodriguez served up one of the team's nine aces.
Defensively, McKay led the way with 15 digs.
Loftus chipped in seven while Rodriguez added six and Bishop posted five.
At the net, Sommer had five blocks. Bishop totaled two while Araczki, Lammers and Patterson each were in on a block.
