USCA Posts 3-0 Victory Over North Greenville

AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA volleyball team recorded a 3-0 victory over North Greenville Saturday afternoon.

The Pacers are now 5-1 on the young season.

Head coach Glenn Cox's team was led by Emily Lammers' 12 kills on a .381 attack percentage. Anna Sommer added 10 kills while Ana Cate Loftus and Lexi Rogers contributed six kills apiece. Chloe Duzenack registered four kills while hitting .667.

Tabor Scanlon led the offense with 21 assists while Sidney Hogan distributed 17.

Defensively, Rogers led the way with 11 digs while Scanlon and Lammers had eight apiece. 

Leading 11-10 in the first frame, Rogers hammered home a kill. An attack error pushed it to 13-10, but NGU made it 13-12 moments later. The Pacers responded with three straight points, the first of which came via Rogers. Up 20-17, Rogers found the court. Sadie McKay added an ace. Two plays later, Duzenack registered a kill. After a point from Lammers, the visitors struck to pull within five, but Lammers ended the set at 25-19. 

Down 7-4 in the second set, Lammers answered with two kills. An error knotted the score at 8-8. Trailing 14-12, Lammers started a 4-0 run with a kill. Loftus recorded a kill and USCA used a 6-1 spurt to take an 18-15 lead. Up 21-18, Sommer, Rogers and Kaitlyn Rodriguez hammered home three straight kills. Hogan ended the set with a campfire kill for the 25-19 victory.

Cox's team jumped out to a 9-4 lead in the third stanza and never looked back. Loftus posted back-to-back kills. Moments later, Alli Bishop's kill gave the team a five-point advantage. With the score at 11-6, Sommer took a pass from Hogan and found the court. Loftus had an ace and an attack error by the visitors pushed the margin to eight, 14-6. Up 19-12, Duzenack and Sommer combined for a kill, sparking a 4-0 run. Lammers and Sommer also had kills in the run. Rookie Avery Pearson finished off the match with a kill off a pass from Scanlon. 

The Pacers return to action on Friday, Sept. 20, when they compete in the Gulf South Crossover. The team will face Mississippi College (11 a.m.) and Alabama Huntsville (3 p.m.). Live stats and video will be available at PacerSports.com.
