USCA Volleyball Weekly Notes - Week 2

Sommer Time!

Junior Anna Sommer turned in an impressive opening weekend. After returning from an injury, Sommer hit an astounding .524 during the first match with 13 kills. She added 10 kills with a .444 attack percentage before finishing the weekend with five kills. Overall, Sommer hit .351 and notched 10 blocks.

Sadie's Stepping Into The Role

Senior Sadie McKay stepped into the libero jersey and promptly notched 20 digs in the season-opening victory at Coker. She added 15 digs against Belmont Abbey and nine against Wingate. For the weekend, McKay totaled 44 digs, resulting in 4.40 digs per set.

Hitting Over .500

Senior Gyöngyvér Araczki, coming off an all-conference selection, continued where she left off in 2023. Araczki hit .500 in the season-opening win with eight kills. She followed it up with a .533 attack percentage while slamming home nine kills against Belmont Abbey. Araczki finished off the weekend with a .432 attack percentage while posting 20 kills in 37 attacks.  

Patterson's Performance

Against Belmont Abbey, junior Tucker Patterson turned in an impressive performance. She tallied five kills in six attempts for an .833 attack percentage. Patterson also added a block and a dig.   

Trio Makes Their Mark

Transfer Sidney Hogan and freshmen Ana Cate Loftus and Tabor Scanlon turned in solid efforts during the first three matches of the season. Hogan dished out 49 assists, had five kills and served up five aces. Loftus played in eight sets, totaling eight kills, four assists and an ace. Scanlon saw time in every set and dished out a team-best 53 assists. She chipped in three kills and three aces.

Inside The Numbers

This week, USCA hosts Francis Marion and Carson-Newman on Friday, Sept. 14, before taking on North Greenville on Saturday, Sept. 14. Since moving to Division II, the Pacers are 217-144 (60.1 percent) in Friday matches and 254-154 (62.3 percent) in Saturday contests. During the same time, the program is 10-11 on Sept. 13 and 8-8 on Sept. 14.

Against The Opponents

This week, USCA hosts Francis Marion and Carson-Newman on Friday, Sept. 14, before taking on North Greenville on Saturday, Sept. 14. The Pacers are 51-26 in the all-time series against the Patriots. The squad is 11-8 in the all-time series against the Eagles and the program is 12-0 in the all-time series against North Greenville.
