AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA volleyball team visited O'Dell Weeks and put on a clinic for the youth of Aiken Monday evening.

Head coach Glenn Cox and his entire team spent 90 minutes with the local youth teaching the basics of volleyball, including serving, passing, attacking and defense. 

"It was nice to finally get back to our yearly tradition of working with and teaching the game of volleyball to the awesome turn out of youth at O'Dell Weeks," Cox stated. "Our volleyball program always strives to help provide support, create opportunities and offer resources to the current Aiken area volleyball community as well as helping build the future. Our summer volleyball camps at USC Aiken and clinics out in the community allow us to help grow the game and give a little back to the people that come and provide us with so much support all year. 

"It is always amazing to see the connections our student athletes and coaching staff make with youth in the area through our camps and clinics. It is so rewarding every year to see those kids that do get hooked on volleyball, growing up, maturing as volleyball players and as people and loving the game we are able to share with them."    

Cox and his team have put on the clinic several times over the last few years.

"It was great being able to give back to the community and spread love for the sport," Sadie McKay stated. "I can remember being a little girl and being in a clinic just like this one and falling completely in love with volleyball, so it is just very cool to watch other kids fall in love with the sport just like I did."

"Getting the opportunity to give back to the Aiken community through something that we all love so much was definitely an awesome experience," Alli Bishop said. "Seeing the younger girls develop their love for the game as well as connections with each other is very special and I'm honored that the USCA volleyball team gets to play a role in that."

The Pacers open the season on Friday, Sept. 6 at Coker.
