GREENWOOD, S.C. – The USC Aiken baseball team lost a 9-3 contest at Lander in the series finale Sunday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 9-29 on the season, including 5-13 in PBC play.
USC Aiken jumped on top of the Bearcats in the first inning.
Luke Parker was hit by a pitch and moved to second on a
Josh Sharp sacrifice bunt.
Capers Molinaroli grounded out, pushing Parker to third base.
Dalton Graves ripped a single through the right side, driving in Parker.
Lander plated seven runs over the next three innings, but head coach
Michael Holder's team battled back in the fifth. After a walk to
Brandon Osypczuk,
Kaden Usry doubled him home. Usry moved to third two batters later before Sharp roped a single to center field, making it 7-3.
The home team added a run in the sixth and eighth innings for the final tally.
For the game, Graves, Sharp and Usry all had hits – and each drove in a run. Usry registered a double and scored. Osypczuk and Parker also crossed home plate.
On the mound,
Kevin Cox got the start and worked four innings. He had four strikeouts.
AJ Deibel worked 1.2 frames and had a pair of strikeouts.
Jared Huse threw 1.1 frames while
Louie Smith and
Jaylen Merchant combined to work the eighth inning.
