AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team lost a 14-4 decision at Augusta Friday evening.
The Pacers are now 9-31 on the season and 5-14 in PBC action.
Head coach
Michael Holder's team jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first frame. With one down,
Capers Molinaroli singled to left field and moved to second when
Kaden Usry was hit by a pitch. With two down and Usry on second base,
Luke Parker blasted a double to right field. An error allowed
Brandon Osypczuk to reach first to put runners on the corners. A
Dalton Graves base knock drove in Parker for a 2-0 advantage.
Trailing 4-2 in the third, Usry rocketed a base hit to center field. A walk to Parker and a base hit by Osypczuk loaded the bags. With one away,
Bradley White II belted a single to right field, plating Usry and Parker.
The Jaguars regained the advantage in the bottom of the third with a single run before tacking on two runs in the fourth and three in the sixth for a 10-4 lead. AU managed to plate four runs in the eighth for the 14-4 final.
For the game, Molinaroli led the way with two hits. Parker registered the team's lone extra-base hit – a double. White II knocked in two runs while Parker and Usry each crossed home plate twice in the contest.
On the mound,
Jacob Fletcher got the start and worked 5.2 innings. He gave up nine runs, eight of which were earned, on eight hits. Fletcher tallied two strikeouts.
Jared Huse tossed 1.2 innings and gave up four runs on three hits with a pair of strikeouts.
Jacob Bodkin gave up a run and had a strikeout.
