Jentri Worley Nets 14 Against Bobcats

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team lost a 74-50 contest to Georgia College & State University Saturday afternoon.

The Pacers are now 4-16 overall, including 0-10 in league play.

Head coach Mark Miller's team was led by Jentri Worley's team-high 14 points and six rebounds. She also shared game-high honors with three assists in 33 minutes of work. Jaya Nelson and Marta Rivera tallied eight points apiece while Paris Webster registered seven points and Annalise Malone garnered six points. 

Worley opened the game with a three-point bucket off a pass from Rivera. Down by four, Jaya Nelson drained a shot from distance to pull within one, 7-6. USC Aiken trailed 12-6 before Malone found Worley for a three-ball at the 3:02 mark. The visitors held an eight-point lead before Paris Webster drilled a shot from 30-feet out as the first-quarter buzzer sounded, making it 17-12.

Miller's team trailed by 13, 31-18, with 3:50 to play in the frame before Malone canned a jumper. After grabbing a rebound, Worley pushed the pace and kicked the ball to Sami Bardonaro for a shot from downtown on the break, slicing the deficit to eight. Rivera cut into the lead off a pass from Nelson with 2:13 to play. Down by eight, 33-25, Worley once again got things going on the break. She found Nelson who buried a wing three-ball to make it 33-28 at the half. 

GCSU managed to take a 40-28 lead before Worley netted four straight points and Rivera hit a jumper to pull within six at 40-34. However, the Bobcats embarked on a 20-8 run to end the stanza.

Down by 21, Malone hit a pair of free throws. A jumper by Webster with 5:32 to play made it a 65-48 contest cut that was as close as the home team could get the rest of the way.

For the game, USC Aiken hit 20-of-59 (33.9 percent) from the floor, including six-of-18 from downtown. The team dished out nine assists in the contest.
