AUGUSTA, Ga. – The USCA volleyball team lost a 3-1 decision at Augusta University Saturday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 12-6 on the year, including 4-3 in PBC play. The Jaguars stand at 15-5 overall and 3-3 in league action.
Set scores were 25-19, 17-25, 19-25, 14-25.
Head coach
Glenn Cox's team was led by
Emily Lammers' nine-kill, 14-dig effort.
Anna Sommer slammed home seven kills and had three blocks in the contest.
Gyöngyvér Araczki and
Tucker Patterson tallied six kills each while
Kaitlyn Rodriguez notched five kills.
Ana Cate Loftus posted two kills while
Sidney Hogan and
Alli Bishop had one kill apiece.
Tabor Scanlon dished out 22 assists while Hogan notched nine.
Sadie McKay and Scanlon had two aces each while Lammers had one.
Defensively, Patterson had two blocks as did Araczki. McKay chipped in 14 digs while Rodriguez had seven.
Down 7-4 in the first set, a service error gave the Pacers the ball. Two more attack errors knotted the score at 7-7. Bishop and Lammers notched kills for a 9-7 advantage while closing out the 5-0 spurt. Up 14-12, Patterson slammed home a kill. Rodriguez and Sommer combined for a block before Sommer posted a kill. A point from Rodriguez pushed the margin to 18-12. Up 21-17, Sommer had a kill before Araczki and Lammers combined for a block. A point from Hogan and an ace from Scanlon ended the set at 25-19.
Trailing 9-7 in the third frame, Patterson slammed home a kill. Two plays later, Sommer's point gave USCA a 10-9 advantage. AU went on an 11-4 run before Rodriguez added a point off a pass from Bishop. The home squad managed to hold on for the 25-19 win.
In the fourth set, USCA took a 3-0 lead. Scanlon started things off with an ace before Lammers and Patterson added kills. The Jaguars tied it at 6-6 and the contest was a back-and-forth affair. Tied at 10-10, Rodriguez put the visitors in front with a point. Tied at 13-13, AU made it 21-13 before an error gave Cox's team the side-out. However, the Jaguars managed to take the 25-14 win.
