GREENVILLE, Tenn. – The USCA women's basketball team lost a 95-78 decision at Tusculum Saturday afternoon.

The Pacers are now 0-4 on the season.

Down 12-5 in the early going, Destiny Harman buried a three-ball. Rhiannon Saller connected on a lay-up with 6:05 to play, pulling the visitors within two at 12-10. Trailing 17-12, Sami Bardonaro canned a shot from distance with 4:21 to go. A 9-0 run by the Pioneers made it 26-15 before Serena Baker hit an inside shot. Tusculum ended the period with a 31-19 advantage.

With the score at 44-25, Jaya Nelson hit a free throw before Bardonaro connected again from downtown. The Pioneers maintained a 51-36 margin before Kendall Parker hit two free throws. Riley Simmons added a charity toss at the 58-second mark to pull within 12, 51-39. Gracie Huffard's jumper made it 53-41 before the home team hit a shot just before intermission for a 55-41 lead entering halftime.

Down 61-45, Parker converted an old-fashioned three-point play with 6:20 on the clock. The teams traded buckets until it was 65-50. Then, Saller made a shot and Simmons drained a three-ball, cutting the deficit to 10, 65-55, at the 3:26 mark. A 12-4 spark by the Pioneers pushed the score to 77-59 at the end of the third quarter.

A 7-0 run near the midway point of the fourth stanza cut the deficit to 15, but that was as close as the team could get the rest of the way.

Head coach Mark Miller's team was led by Harman and Simmons as each totaled 12 points. Baker, Bardonaro and Saller added 11 points apiece in the loss.

Bardonaro and Saller shared team-best honors with eight rebounds each. Baker and Huffard snagged seven and six, respectively.

Parker dished out three assists while Saller swatted two shots in the loss.

For the game, USCA hit 26-of-79 (32.9 percent) from the floor, including 10-of-31 (32.3 percent) from the three-point line. The team canned 16-of-24 (66.7 percent) from the charity stripe.   Miller's team netted 32 points in the paint and grabbed 31 offensive rebounds, resulting in 25 second chance points.
