Pacers Cruise To Sweep Of Bobcats On Senior Night

AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 victory over Georgia College & State University on Senior Night.

The Pacers are now 12-5 on the year, including 4-2 in PBC action.

Head coach Glenn Cox's team was led by Emily Lammers' 12-kill, nine-dig effort. She added a pair of aces as well. Tucker Patterson and Kaitlyn Rodriguez totaled eight kills apiece while Alli Bishop and Anna Sommer contributed six kills each. Gyöngyvér Araczki had two kills while Madison Fox and Avery Pearson accounted for one kill each.

Tabor Scanlon dished out 18 assists while Sidney Hogan distributed 13 assists. Fox chipped in three from the setter position.

At the service line, USCA was sensational. The squad registered 12 aces, including six from Araczki. Lammers, McKay and Rodriguez also had two each.

Defensively, Rodriguez led everyone with 13 digs. McKay notched eight digs while Izabella De Lima totaled seven. Hogan chipped in five.

At the net, Araczki blocked four attempts while Patterson was in on three blocks. Sommer, Rodriguez, Lammers, Bishop and Pearson were each in on a block.

Tied at 3-3 in the first set, USCA embarked on a 4-0 spurt – and two of the points came via service aces from Araczki. Leading 11-9, Bishop found the court for a point. Araczki and Patterson combined for a block while Araczki and Lammers posted a block, forcing a time-out by the visitors. The Pacers slowly extended the lead en route to the 25-15 victory.

Cox's team cruised to a 25-17 victory in the second stanza. The squad jumped out to a 7-2 lead after Rodriguez hammered home a pass from Scanlon. With De Lima serving, Lammers tallied a kill. Araczki added a point for a 13-6 advantage. Up 16-9, Lammers had a kill before serving up two aces. Fox ended the set with a campfire kill.

With the score at 6-5 in the third frame, Lammers started a run with a kill off a pass from Hogan. Two plays later, Rodriguez threw down a kill. Bishop and Lammers went back-to-back for points before McKay served up an ace. After another point by Lammers, McKay concluded the 8-0 spurt with another ace. Up 14-8, Bishop and Patterson tallied back-to-back kills. With the score at 21-13, Rodriguez throttled a pass from Fox. Bishop and Pearson combined for a block before a bad set pushed the margin to 24-13. Three plays later, Lammers ended the match with a kill. 

The match marked the last regular-season home match for Araczki, De Lima and McKay, as well as Lammers and Rodriguez, who participated in Senior Night a season ago.
