AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA women's soccer team lost a hard-fought 1-0 contest to USC Beaufort Saturday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 2-6-2 on the season, including 1-2 in PBC play. The Sand Sharks stand at 5-2-2 on the year and 2-1 against PBC foes.
Head coach
Adam Kleman's team registered a shot by
Brooke Morrison in the 27
th minute, but it was saved. USCA earned a corner kick 30 seconds later.
Ellie Garces' header was saved, keeping the contest at 0-0 heading into intermission.
In the 78
th minute,
Shy Iles turned and rocketed a shot that sailed just to the left of the frame.
Kleman's squad drew a corner kick at the 79:52 mark, resulting in a shot by
Ellie Thompson that was saved. Young's brilliant shot at the 80:59 mark was turned away.
USCB managed to earn three consecutive corner kicks in the 85
th minute. Three minutes later, the Sand Sharks netted the game-winning score on a ball in the box after a save by
Kaydence Moore.
Carmen Jones nearly tied the match from 20 yards out with 1:45 to go, but it narrowly missed high of the frame.
For the match, USCA tallied six shots, including four on frame. Kleman's group accounted for four corner kicks, with three coming in the second period.
In goal, Moore played all 90 minutes and stopped eight shots.
