AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA volleyball team lost a tightly contested match to Lander Tuesday evening in front of a tremendous crowd by a 3-2 score.
The Pacers are now 11-5 on the season, including 3-2 in PBC play. The Bearcats stand at 15-3 overall and 3-0 against conference foes.

Glenn Cox's team was led by
Emily Lammers' double-double effort of 13 kills and 25 digs. The 25 digs marked a career high and game high for the senior.
Chloe Duzenack notched 10 kills to go along with six digs.
Gyongyver Araczki posted seven kills, six digs and a team-best three blocks.
Alli Bishop,
Tucker Patterson and
Anna Sommer had five kills apiece.
Sidney Hogan distributed 21 assists while
Tabor Scanlon accounted for a double-double with 16 assists and 13 digs.
At the service line,
Sadie McKay and Scanlon notched three aces each. Duzenack and Lammers posted two aces each.
After trailing in the early going, USCA tied the first set on a kill by Patterson. The back-and-forth affair saw the teams trade points until it was 18-18. Lammers slammed home a kill and Scanlon served up an ace, forcing a time-out by the visitors. Scanlon repeated her last play, serving up another ace, after the time-out.
Chloe Duzenack's point concluded the run. Moments later, back-to-back errors by LU gave the home team a 25-21 victory.
USCA jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the second stanza thanks to three consecutive miscues by the Bearcats. LU tied it at 4-4 and the squad went back-and-forth with neither gaining much of an advantage. Trailing 17-15, Duzenack hammered home a kill. She then served up an ace. An attack error by the visitors made it 18-17. Tied at 18-18, Lammers registered a kill. McKay served up an ace and a kill from Araczki pushed the score to 21-18. Leading 23-21, Lammers posted another point before serving up an ace to conclude the set at 25-21.
The Pacers took an 11-7 lead after an attack error by the Bearcats in the third frame. Two consecutive miscues by Lander pushed the score to 12-10 but the visitors embarked on a 6-0 spurt. A kill from Lammers off a pass from Scanlon ended the spurt, making it 18-13. USCA trailed 23-15 before making a run – including kills from Bishop and Sommer – but the Bearcats pulled out the 25-19 win.
After dropping the fourth set, Cox's team trailed 7-1. However, Araczki notched a kill. Moments later,
Kaitlyn Rodriguez and
Anna Sommer tallied back-to-back points. Down 11-6, Bishop accounted for a kill. Two plays later, Lammers made it 12-8 with a point. Patterson made it 13-9, but that was as close as the team could get the rest of the way.
