USCA Falls To No. 3 Columbus State

AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA women's soccer team lost a hard-fought 3-0 contest to No. 3 Columbus State Saturday afternoon.

The Pacers are now 2-9-2 overall, including 1-5 in PBC play. The Cougars improve to 11-0-1 on the year and 5-0 against league foes.

Head coach Adam Kleman's team dominated the first 10 minutes of the match. Shy Iles blasted an attempt at the 5:05 mark, but it was stopped by the keeper. After a save from Alisha Avila, the Pacers went on the attack. It resulted in a shot on goal by Gillian Young in the eighth minute of play.

The Cougars managed to take a 1-0 lead after a foul in the box. CSU converted the penalty kick at the 33:13 mark.

The score remained the same until the second period. Lexi Blasberg rocketed a shot that was stopped in the 48th minute. Five minutes later, the Cougars scored to make it 2-0. The visitors added the third goal in the 57th minute of play.  

For the match, USCA tallied three shots – all of which were on frame.

In goal, Avila tallied four saves in the first half. Kaydence Moore played the final 45 minutes between the pipes and totaled nine saves.
