ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The USCA women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 contest at Flagler Wednesday evening.
The Pacers are now 2-8-2 on the season, including 1-4 in league play. The Saints stand at 4-2-4 on the year and 2-2-2 against PBC teams.
Head coach
Adam Kleman's team earned a corner kick just 2:54 into the match. That resulted in an attempt by
Ellie Thompson, but the shot was blocked.
Flagler's shot on goal in the 29
th minute was saved by
Alisha Avila. She came up with another save moments later, keeping the contest scoreless heading into the second half.
Early in the second period, the Pacers earned another corner kick. In the 54
th minute of action, Thompson's shot was blocked.
After a pair of solid saves by Avila, the Saints found the back of the net in the 60
th minute.
Kleman's team tried to knot the score, but two shots by
Shy Iles were saved just a minute apart.
Down 2-0 at the 83:56 mark,
Gillian Young took the corner kick, resulting in a shot by
Payton Bates. However, the attempt sailed high. Iles had another shot in the 87
th minute, but it was wide of the frame.
For the match, USCA totaled six shots, including two shots on frame. Thompson had a pair of shots while Iles totaled three shots, including two on goal. Bates registered the team's other attempt in the match.
In goal, Avila played all 90 minutes and had nine stops.
