AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA volleyball team recorded a 3-0 victory over Augusta Wednesday evening in a PBC contest.
The Pacers are now 11-2 on the season, including 3-0 in PBC play. The Jaguars stand at 11-3 overall and 1-1 against conference foes.
Head coach
Glenn Cox's team was led by
Gyongyver Araczki and
Emily Lammers as both shared match-high honors with eight kills apiece.
Anna Sommer and
Alli Bishop each had six kills.
Sidney Hogan notched a match-high 20 assists while adding five digs.
Tabor Scanlon dished out 13 assists to go along with five digs, two kills and an ace.
Araczki served up three aces while Lammers had a pair of aces.
Defensively,
Sadie McKay garnered a match-best 17 digs.
Kaitlyn Rodriguez had 16 while Lammers totaled 12.
At the net, Sommer had three blocks.
The back-and-forth affair saw the teams tied at 15-15. A kill by Lammers forced a time-out. Tied at 16-16, Bishop recorded a kill. Araczki served up an ace. After an error, she recorded another ace en route to a 20-16 lead. Up 23-20,
Chloe Duzenack slammed home a kill. An attack error gave the team the 25-20 win.
Cox's team jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the second stanza after a kill from Scanlon. Moments later, a miscue by the visitors pushed the score to 10-5. Up 12-11, USCA called a time-out. After the break, Lammers slammed home a kill. The visitors managed to knot the score at 19-19. Tied at 20-20, Sommer found the court off a pass from Hogan. Araczki recorded a point. Up 23-21 Lammers tallied a kill. Two plays later, an attack error gave the Pacers a 25-22 victory.
USCA jumped out to a 12-6 lead after a 6-1 spurt. During the run, Duzenack posted two kills. Araczki and Lammers had kills while Lammers and Sommer recorded a block. Up 14-11, Araczki and Rodriguez combined for a block. Araczki had an ace before Bishop and Sommer had a block. Sommer tallied a kill for an 18-11 edge.
AU made a run to knot the score at 21-21 but an error by the Jaguars made it 22-21. Scanlon served up an ace for a 23-21 margin. Leading 23-22, Araczki found the court by a point. On the ensuing play, Bishop ended the second consecutive match with a kill for the 25-22 win.
