Each week, USC Aiken will post notes. This week, the Pacers host Southern Wesleyan on Wednesday before playing at Middle Georgia State on Saturday.

Recapping Last Week

Last week, the USC Aiken women's soccer team was supposed to host Coker in the season opener on Thursday. However, due to impending inclement weather from the hurricane, the match was canceled. Head coach Adam Kleman managed to schedule another match against Newberry – on the road – on Friday. The squad played well but lost a 1-0 decision.

Gibson In Goal

Emma Gibson got the starting nod between the pipes in the season-opening match at Newberry. She played well but the Wolves managed to secure a one-goal victory.

Pushing Forward

USC Aiken pushed forward in the second half at Newberry. The squad managed to take plenty of shots against the SAC foe but the Pacers were unable to find the back of the net in the loss. Despite not scoring, the team knows it can apply offensive pressure against defenses, which should bode well for the remainder of the season.

Home Opener

For the second consecutive season, USC Aiken's home opener was altered due to weather. A year ago, the team had to hit the road for a match at Erskine. The team ended up having to play its first five matches on the road before returning home to host Clayton State, resulting in a draw. This year, the squad was supposed to host Coker. After that was canceled due to weather, the Pacers scheduled Newberry a day later. USC Aiken gets to open the home portion of the slate Wednesday against Southern Wesleyan.

Inside The Numbers

This week, USC Aiken hosts Southern Wesleyan on Wednesday, Sept. 6 before making the trek to Middle Georgia State on Saturday, Sept. 9. Since the program started, USC Aiken is 45-79-12 (37.5 percent) in Wednesday matches and 46-106-12 (31.7 percent) in Saturday contests. During the same time, the team is 4-2-1 on Sept. 6 and 1-4 on Sept. 9.
