Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Pacers Fall To Saints

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team lost a hard-fought 3-0 match to Flagler Wednesday afternoon.

The Pacers are now 1-3 on the season, including 0-2 in PBC action.

Flagler nearly got on the board in the sixth minute but a shot from 20 yards out hit the crossbar. In the 17th minute of play, Kaydence Moore turned away the visitors – and she did so again a minute later.

Moore had three more saves before USC Aiken registered its first shot of the contest – one from Mia Duncan from 35 yards out.

One of the most impressive plays of the afternoon came in the 39th minute of action when the Saints tried to score off a set piece. With Moore occupying the near side of the goal an attempt was sent to the far side by the visitors. Sonya Villarreal stepped in front of what would have been a goal to play it away, keeping the contest scoreless.

After a late save by Moore, the teams went into halftime scoreless.

In the 63rd minute, Flagler had a pair of shots inside the box but each time Moore was up to the task, keeping the Saints from scoring.

In the 72nd minute, USC Aiken was whistled for a foul in the box, resulting in a yellow card. The Saints managed to convert the shot for a 1-0 advantage.

The Saints pushed the margin to 2-0 in the 80th minute on a shot off a rebound.

Head coach Adam Kleman's team continued to push forward. The squad earned a corner kick at the 80:13 mark. Carmen Jones took the kick but the Pacers were unable to record a shot off the set piece.

Moments later, USC Aiken had another opportunity when Reagan Leonard flicked a pass toward Shiloh Pirro running to the box but a Saints' defender managed to get a boot on the ball and flick it to the keeper.

Flagler scored its third goal of the match with 1:52 to play for the final tally.

For the match, Duncan posted a shot on goal. Mackenzie Cochrane registered a shot.

Between the pipes, Moore accounted for 10 saves while playing the entire match.

The Pacers return to action Saturday when they travel to Clayton State for a 1 p.m., match. Live stats and video will be available at PacerSports.com.
