AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's soccer team lost a 3-0 decision at North Georgia Wednesday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 0-4-1 on the season, including an 0-2 mark in league play.
The Nighthawks tried to take the lead in the third minute but
Tyler Hughes was up for the challenge between the pipes.
Kadin DeMesme rocketed a shot toward the frame at the 5:16 mark but the shot sailed high.
UNG managed to net a goal in the 15
th minute for what turned out to be the match-winning tally. Less than two minutes later, head coach
Ike Ofoje's team registered a corner kick but the team was unable to get a shot off the set piece.
In the 39
th minute of play,
Lucas Pegorer garnered a shot that missed to the left of the frame. At the 40:44 mark, DeMesme ripped an attempt that was stopped by the keeper. Late in the first half,
Jose Rabadan's shot missed to the right of the goal.
The Pacers pushed forward in the opening moments of the second stanza, resulting in Pegorer taking a pair of shots that narrowly missed finding the back of the net.
The Nighthawks took a 2-0 lead in the 62n minute of action before adding the final tally in the 74
th minute of play.
For the match, USC Aiken tallied 10 shots, including two on frame. Pegorer accounted for five of the team's attempts, including one on target. Rabadan notched three shots in the loss.
Hughes played all 90 minutes in goal and totaled four saves.
