AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball team rattled off wins over Montevallo and Mississippi College Friday at the PBC-Gulf South Crossover.

in the opener against Montevallo, USC Aiken dropped the first two frames before responding with wins of 25-19, 25-17 and 15-4 for the victory. Head coach
Glenn Cox's team hit .318 and .389 in the final two sets, totaling 23 kills against two errors while the Falcons posted 16 kills with 11 errors. Additionally, Montevallo hit -.174 in the final stanza.
In the win,
Sadie McKay posted 15 kills and 15 digs to go along with three aces.
Emily Lammers registered 14 kills, 11 digs, three blocks and two aces while
Lexi Rogers accounted for 14 kills and 10 digs.
Gyöngyvér Araczki was outstanding, posting eight kills while hitting .667.
Mallory Barash was tremendous, notching 48 assists, 21 digs, four aces and four kills.
Defensively,
Kari Mercer led the squad with 24 digs.
Down 17-14 in the third frame, McKay slammed home a kill. Barash served up back-to-back aces to knot the score. Two plays later,
Brooke Wroten took a pass from Barash and found the court for a kill. That play sparked a 7-0 spurt by the Pacers. During the run, Rogers had three kills while McKay had an ace. Up 24-19, Lammers shut the door on the Falcons with a thunderous kill.
USC Aiken took control early in the fourth set but Montevallo battled back to make it 16-15. McKay answered the call with a kill. After a miscue by the Falcons, McKay added another kill for a 19-15 lead. The Pacers embarked on a 6-1 run to close the set. The final two kills came from Araczki, which forced the deciding frame.
Cox's team jumped out to a 6-0 lead and never looked back in the frame. During the spurt, Lammers had two kills while McKay had one. USC Aiken made it 9-1 after an error by Montevallo. Leading 12-4, Rogers powered home a pass from Barash. Then, she served up an ace before Mercer found Barash for the match-winning point.
In the nightcap against Mississippi College, Rogers led the way with 18 kills. Lammers tallied 14 kills and 11 digs for a double-double while McKay narrowly missed a double-double with 13 kills and nine digs. She and Mercer each posted four aces. Araczki accounted for eight kills with a .429 hitting percentage. She chipped in a pair of blocks and three digs.
Barash once again had a solid all-around performance with 44 assists, 13 digs, four kills and two blocks.
Mercer led the defense with 20 digs and chipped in 11 assists for a double-double.
Leading 10-7 in the first stanza, Araczki found the court for a point. Rogers followed it with an ace before an error by the home team made it 13-7. Rogers served up another ace and another error made it 15-7 en route to the 25-14 win.
Wroten and McKay each had points to start the second set as the Pacers held a 3-0 lead. The back-and-forth affair saw USC Aiken maintain a 21-20 advantage before a service error put Cox's team up two. Leading 24-22, Barash saw McKay for an attempt and she promptly delivered with the set winner.
After dropping the third set 30-28, USC Aiken jumped out to a 9-3 lead after Rogers provided a kill off a pass from Barash. However, the opposition managed to tie the frame at 22-22. Trailing 23-22,
Alisha Pitt sliced the defense for a point. The teams traded errors and it pushed the score to 24-24. Rogers gave the Pacers a one-point edge before Mercer's pass found Lammers, who promptly throttled the attack down the line for the match-winning point.
Set scores were 25-14, 25-22, 28-30, 26-24.
