Each week, USC Aiken will produce notes. This week, the University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team plays four games at home to conclude the regular season. On Tuesday, the Pacers play a non-conference game against the Erskine Flying Fleet. Over the weekend, USC Aiken will play a three-game conference series against the Lander Bearcats. On Sunday, USC Aiken will recognize the team's seniors during the Senior Day pregame.
Recapping Last Week
Head coach
Michael Holder's team finished the week 2-2. The Pacers defeated Southern Wesleyan at home and won the first game of the three-game series against Georgia College and State before dropping the final two games to the Bobcats. USC Aiken is now 28-18 on the season and 19-8 in the PBC. The Pacers are currently tied for first place in the conference.
Joe The Slugger
Joseph Mozingo enjoyed a hot week at the plate. He had a .444 batting average on eight-of-18 hitting with two doubles, two runs scored and three RBI. Mozingo has a team high .477 slugging percentage.
Luuuke
Luke Parker was second on the team this week (four appearances) with a .375 batting average. He hit six-of-16, scored three runs and collected four RBI. Three of those RBI came on a three-run homer in the game against the Southern Wesleyan Warriors. It was his third home run of the season. Parker also saw time on the mound against the Warriors and in game three against the Bobcats. He pitched a scoreless inning against SWU giving up no hits and hurled a third of an inning against GCSU giving up a run and a hit.
Jack Of All Trades
Jackson Hannon added to his team leading hit count by collecting five this past week with one of them being a double. The extra base knock now brings his total doubles to 16, which also leads the team. Hannon was a prefect three-for-three in stolen base attempts as well.
King Of The Hill
Jacob Fletcher collected his seventh win of the season in the game-one win over GCSU. He pitched seven innings giving up one run and fanned six batters.
AJ Deibel picked up his first save of the year tossing 1.2 scoreless innings in relief allowing one hit and striking out two.
Inside The Numbers
Since moving to Division II, the Pacers are 112-48 (70 percent) on Tuesdays. Across the weekend, USC Aiken is 156-109 (58.9 percent) in Friday matchups, 356-241 (58.6 percent) in Saturday contests, and 214-156 (57.8 percent) on Sundays. During the same time, the team is 11-5 on April 25, 8-5 on April 28, 4-4 on April 29 and 3-4 on April 30.
Against The Opponents
USC Aiken is 15-9-1 all-time against the Flying Fleet. The Pacers have the advantage at home with a 12-5-1 record. Their last matchup came in March of 2019, in Aiken, with the Pacers taking the loss 9-4. Erskine currently has a three-game win streak against USC Aiken.
Against the Bearcats, the Pacers 49-30 with a 26-7 home record. USC Aiken lost 8-4 in the last matchup in Greenwood, S.C. last May.
