Spirit Squad | March 30, 2023
AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken is pleased to announce Spirit Squad tryout information for the upcoming 2023-24 academic year.
In order to tryout, students must be enrolled as a full-time student at USC Aiken or be an incoming student for the upcoming fall semester.
Students trying out must complete the
Spirit Squad Tryout Application and upload proof of insurance and a sports physical by 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 27.
Participants should wear fitness or dancewear. No baggie clothes or denim. Expectations for tryouts are to look as if you would like to be part of the Spirit Squad gameday experience.
Participants should have at least two years of dance technique or high school/competition cheer team experience.
No paper documentation for sports physicals and insurance will be allowed the day of tryouts.
Be prepared to begin the tryout promptly at 10 am.
Student-athletes on the team will be required to be in good standing academically at USC Aiken (above a 2.0 GPA).
The team will have components of both cheer and dance. Practices will be weekly during the fall and spring semesters.
For students unable to attend auditions April 29th
Please submit the following:
1. 30-45 sec video (or compilation of videos) of any prior performance (dance recital, cheer competition, dance competition, game performance). Student should be in a uniform and a performance setting demonstrating what we would expect to see on the court in terms of performance level and skill level
2. Separate video with following skills: toe touch, kick/battement, tumbling skills, specialized dance skills such as turns or leaps,
3. letter of recommendation from a former coach
