EATONTON, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken golf team is in eighth place after the first round of competition at the Bobcat Invitational.

Due to frost Monday morning, the tournament was altered to a 36-hole event with one round played on Monday and the final round on Tuesday.

Head coach Michael Carlisle's team shot 11-over par, 291, through the first 18 holes of competition.

North Georgia leads the field with an even-par, 280. Florida Southern is second (281) while Columbus State (284) rounds out the top three schools. West Florida (285), Georgia Southwestern (288), Clayton State (288) and Barry (290) are ahead of the Pacers in the 15-team field.   

Leonardo Bono stands in sixth place after firing an opening-round even-par, 70.

Oscar Abrahamsson is three strokes behind Bono after posting a three-over par, 73. He is tied for 33^rd. Rory McDonald O'Brien and Jonah Winter are tied for 41^st after carding identical scores of four-over par, 74 while Erik Olin is a stroke behind the dyad in 48^th.

The team returns to action tomorrow for the final round of competition on the par-70, 6,730-yard golf course designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw.
