Recapping Last Week
Last week, USC Aiken went on the road for games at Georgia College & State and Flagler.Â
After leading by four at the break against the Bobcats, USC Aiken turned on the throttle and poured in 54 second-half points, including 18 from
Tehree Horn. After shooting 13-of-39 in the first half, the squad canned 19-of-30 (63.3 percent) in the final 20 minutes of action, including a sizzling seven-of-15 (46.7 percent) from downtown.Â
In the win at Flagler, head coach
Mark Vanderslice's team jumped on the Saints early and held a 54-35 lead at the break. Although Flagler outscored the Pacers by six in the second half, every time the home team got close, Horn answered the bell with one of his career-high 32 points.Â
Horn Sounds Off
After scoring two points in the first 20 minutes of action at Georgia College & State,
Tehree Horn erupted for 18 second-half points. He scored one third of head coach
Mark Vanderslice's team's points in the final 20 minutes of action. For the game, he posted a game-best 20 points on seven-of-14 shooting from the floor, including two-of-five from downtown. Horn also netted four-of-five from the charity stripe.Â
Almost Half
Jameel Rideout can do it all. He's shown the ability to score when the team depends on it (last-second basket in the win over nationally-ranked North Georgia), but he can also put his teammates in a position to score. At Georgia College & State, Rideout accounted for five of the team's 11 assists in the game.Â
Archie Heats Up
It didn't take long for
Melvin Archie to get on the board at Georgia College & State. After checking into the game in the final minute, Archie took a pass in the corner and dropped in a three-point bucket for his lone shot attempt of the night in the 83-59 victory.
Horn Can Hoop
Tehree Horn put together an outstanding game in the win at Flagler. The Toledo, Ohio native poured in a career-high 32 points on 13-of-19 shooting. He drained six-of-nine from downtown in the contest. Additionally, Horn snagged five boards, dished out three assists and had a steal I 32 minutes of work. In the final 20 minutes of action, he erupted for 21 points on eight-of-11 shooting, including five-of-seven from distance.Â
Sharing Is Caring
Tyler Johnson started the game fast in the scoring column but turned into a distributor for much of the win at Flagler. Johnson dished out a career-high eight assists in the game. He accounted for 40 percent of the team's assists against the Saints.Â
Heating Up From Deep
USC Aiken might have enjoyed the warmer weather, but the hottest part about St. Augustine, Fla., last Saturday was the three-point shooting by the Pacers. Head coach
Mark Vanderslice's team buried 16-of-33 from distance, which tied the third-most three-point buckets the program has made in the Division II era.Â
Quiet Play Speaks Volumes
Jalen McCoy had a "quiet" 20 points in the win at Flagler. With a lot of eyes of
Tehree Horn and his 32 points, McCoy tallied 20 points on nine-of-13 shooting from the floor. He also hit both charity tosses in the victory.Â
