Comeback Bid Falls Just Short On Senior Day

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team lost a 4-3 contest to Georgia College & State on Senior Day.

The Pacers are now 1-5-1 overall, including 0-4-1 in league play. The Bobcats are now 5-4-2 on the year and 2-2-1 against conference competition.

Trailing 3-0 entering the second half, head coach Adam Kleman's team put forth a valiant effort.

Just over three minutes into the second period, USC Aiken earned a corner kick. Rookie Carmen Jones took it and promptly curved her attempt into the back of the net, making it 3-1. The score marked her second goal of the season.

Kleman's team pulled within one when Mia Duncan rocketed home a shot in the middle of the box to make it 3-2 at the 62:53 mark.

The Bobcats quickly regained a two-goal advantage with a score in the 70th minute of play. The Pacers continued to apply pressure. After gaining several chances that narrowly missed, Kleman's squad broke through the defense with another goal.

Reagan Leonard stole a pass at the top of the box and ripped a shot into the left side of the frame to make it 4-3 at the 84:02 mark.

USC Aiken continued applying pressure, but the squad was unable to find the equalizer.

For the match, Duncan, Jones and Leonard all had goals. Duncan, Leonard and Shiloh Pirro had two shots on goal apiece.
