BEAUFORT, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team lost a hard-fought 1-0 decision at USC Beaufort Wednesday afternoon in a PBC contest.
The Pacers are now 1-6-1 overall, including 0-5-1 against conference opponents.
Just 13 minutes into the contest,
Avery List rocketed a shot that missed left of the frame. Moments later,
Mackenzie Cochrane ripped an attempt toward the frame, but it was stopped by the keeper.
Kaydence Moore turned away a pair of attempts in the 23
rd minute of action, keeping the contest scoreless.
In the 32
nd minute,
Jordan Huynh-Luetkemeyer notched a pair of attempts, including one on goal, that was thwarted. Just before halftime,
Mia Duncan's attempt was saved.
List and
Shiloh Pirro each tallied shots in the 47
th minute of action but neither could find the back of the net. The Pacers continued to push forward and List registered a shot on goal at the 71:28 mark but the keeper was up for the save. Duncan and Huynh-Luetkemeyer each posted shots that were stopped with under 10 minutes to play.
USC Aiken's Cochrane and Pirro garnered attempts late in the match but neither were on goal. Then, with 33 seconds left the Sand Sharks broke through for the match-winning goal.
For the match, Huynh-Luetkemeyer and List had three shots apiece. Moore played all 90 minutes between the pipes, stopping 11 shots in the loss.
