CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's cross country team finished 12
th at the Royals XC Challenge Friday afternoon.
Converse won the meet while Georgia College & State and Auburn Montgomery rounded out the top three teams in the 24-team field.
Head coach
Marshall Leonard's team was led by rookie
Tess Studley. She crossed the finish line in 19:55.59, missing a top-10 finish by just four seconds. Studley's time marked the fifth-fastest mark in school history. Former student-athlete Keely Gillespie owns the top three times while Nicole Maitland has the fourth-best time.
Alaynah Guthrie turned in a 5k time of 22:07.44, which was good enough for 67
th place. Just four spots behind her was teammate
Amaiyah Smith. She garnered a time of 2:21.13 for 71
st place.
Olivia Robertson posted a mark of 23:08.11 for 85
th place. Teammate
Olivia Moriates was 110
th after finishing in 24:03.04. Rookie
Bailey Kirkland took 123
rd with a mark of 24:29.36.
The Pacers return to action Saturday, Oct. 21, at the PBC Championship.
