Mackenzie Cochrane Tallies A Goal Against Albany State

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw Wednesday evening against Albany State in a league contest.

The Pacers are now 1-4-1 on the season and 0-3-1 against PBC foes.

In the 18th minute of action, head coach Adam Kleman's team opened the scoring. The squad earned a corner kick. Burns Brazzell played the ball into the box and Mackenzie Cochrane headed home the ball in the left corner of the goal for a 1-0 advantage. It marked her second goal of the season and third of her career.

USC Aiken dominated possession the remainder of the half, but the squad was unable to find the back of the net.

Early in the second half the Golden Rams knotted the contest at 1-1. The team stole the ball near midfield and had an advantage in the offensive third of the pitch. The 20-yard shot to the far right of the frame tied the match.

Kleman's team played the majority of the second half in the offensive third of the pitch. In fact, after the score was tied, the visitors managed just one more shot the rest of the way.

In the 60th minute, Brooke Salerno's attempt narrowly missed to the left of the frame. Reagan Leonard's shot sailed to the right in the 63rd minute of action. Two minutes later, Leonard's attempt was saved. Kenna Souder rocketed a shot in the 70th minute but she too was turned away.

Carmen Jones had three shots within a 12-minute span, including one that hit the crossbar and bounced back into the field of play. Allison Mann and Sonya Villarreal each had their shots on frame saved.

For the match, USC Aiken held a 23-2 advantage in shots, including a 12-1 margin in shots on goal. Kleman's team earned five corner kicks.

The Pacers return to action Saturday for Senior Day when they host Georgia College & State at 3:30 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at PacerSports.com.
