USC Aiken Volleyball Notes - Week 10

VBNotes_Week10_2023

Volleyball | October 31, 2023

Each week, USC Aiken will post notes. The Pacers host Flagler tonight before playing at Augusta on Friday. The squad hosts the Jaguars Saturday for Senior Day.

Double-Double Machine

Mallory Barash is a virtual lock to move into third place in school history for the rally scoring era for career assists. However, Barash took over setting duties on a full-time basis midway through her junior season. For her career, she has 25 career double-doubles, which is ninth during USC Aiken's history (since 2001). Her 15 double-doubles this season are also the 10th most in a single-season during that time frame. Barash has a chance to move into second place for a single season.

Mercer's Moving Up

Senior Kari Mercer continues to climb up the charts for multiple categories. Known for her defensive prowess, Mercer is now third in the PBC for career digs (2,293). She trails only Rebecca Martinez (2,560) and Casey Gnann of Flagler (2,428). Additionally, she's now second in USC Aiken's 25-point rally scoring era for sets played (464). Mercer is fourth during the rally scoring era for career aces (125).

Making An Impact

Against Lander, Kaitlyn Rodriguez and Brooke Wroten saw extended playing time – and both made solid impacts in the contest. Rodriguez tallied eight digs to go along with a kill while Wroten moved to the outside. She responded with four kills while hitting .214 to go along with a dig.

Senior Day

Prior to the match on Saturday against Augusta, the seniors will be honored for their hard work and dedication during their time as a Pacer. The ones that will be recognized prior to the match are Mallory Barash, Cat Bodick, Sophia Hoffman, Emily Lammers, Sophie Meredith, Alisha Pitt and Kaitlyn Rodriguez.
